When "deals" don't work out as planned

An invite to readers to share stories about seemingly- great deals that ended up causing a great deal of annoyance. Examples:

Did you ever buy something and don't realize until you get home that the cashier forgot to remove the security tag?

Did you ever submit a rebate by mail, and have enough trouble tracking & receiving the check to make it not worth the effort?

Dig through the discount racks, find something you love @ a great price, but learn at checkout that it was on the clearance rack by mistake, and is actually full price?

Ever experience a "bait & switch" attempt?
